Annulment Writing Workshop Ministry

The Annulment Writing Workshop Ministry of the Archdiocese of New Orleans offers both multi-day/night writing workshops and one-night seminars. These workshops and seminars assist people wishing to petition the Church for a declaration of nullity of a marriage, people wishing to respond to such a petition, or people called as a witness in a declaration of nullity case.
 
The goal of the workshop or seminar is to help individuals seeking the annulment of their previous marriage to better understand the process; to assist individuals to prepare the necessary documents for submission to the Tribunal; and to provide individuals with guidance and pastoral support through the process.
 
The one-night Seminar or the Workshop Introduction provide a detailed introduction and overview of the petitioning process and offer an opportunity to ask questions.  The Workshop Writing sessions guide a person through writing the narrative essay in response to the Tribunal’s Marriage Annulment Questionnaire, an important part of the process in a Formal Case for a declaration of nullity.
 
Workshops and Seminars are conducted by clergy and lay ministers who work with the Tribunal.  They share their experience in order to give guidance to the participants to prepare their submissions to the Tribunal and are available to answer participants’ questions.

A parish priest or deacon can fill a valuable role in pointing a participant in the right direction and seeing them through the process.  If it is possible for you to do so, please meet with a priest or deacon to discuss your situation before attending the Workshop, although this is not required. The Workshop offers a quiet setting free from distraction, in addition to the guidance of those conducting the Workshop and the companionship of others navigating through the same process.
 
The Workshop Writing session on Saturday will cover the following writing topics responding to the Tribunal’s Marriage Annulment Questionnaire:

• You and your former spouse’s life before marriage
• The engagement, wedding day, and honeymoon
• Your life together as a married couple
