The Strengthening Black Parishes gatherings are designed to bring together pastors, deacons, parish leaders, and ministry partners to support the vitality, sustainability, and evangelizing mission of historically Black Catholic faith communities. These gatherings aim to:
1. Share What’s Working: Highlight effective parish practices, ministries, and leadership strategies that are bearing fruit in Black Catholic communities.
2. Build Collaboration & Peer Support: Create a space where clergy and lay leaders can learn from one another, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships across parishes.
3. Address Current Challenges: Provide a forum to discuss real pastoral, financial, cultural, and organizational challenges—and explore practical solutions together.
4. Celebrate Black Catholic Identity & Culture: Affirm the unique gifts, traditions, and spiritual heritage of the Black Catholic community and ensure they continue to thrive in parish life.
5. Equip Parishes for Sustainable Growth: Offer tools, resources, and training that support evangelization, stewardship, youth and young adult engagement, and vibrant worship.
6. Encourage a Shared Vision for the Future: Align parish leaders around common goals that strengthen parish life today and lay a foundation for the next generation.
