Evening of Confession - September 16, 2026

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available in every Catholic Churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans from 5 pm to 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

"Since Jesus’s death and resurrection as we await the second coming, it is through the sacraments that you and I have direct access to God.  Jesus’s establishment of the seven sacraments through His death and resurrection, make God present to us in a very real way, guaranteed. That is the purpose of the sacraments, to guarantee us encounters with the Living God.

The Sacrament of Penance bridges that gap for us.  For over a decade, parishes in the Archdiocese of New Orleans have opened their doors on the Wednesday closest to the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross for an Evening of Confession, an opportunity for Catholics across the archdiocese to receive God’s mercy and forgiveness and the grace that comes from the Sacrament of Penance. Of course, you are free to go to your parish or to another one for the sacrament."
