C0ncerts will happen about once per month, and will featurea wide variety of genres and artists -– both ensembles and soloists. Especially highlighting the sacred and classical music traditions of our liturgies,Music at the Abbeywill bring not only the region’s, but some of the world’s best performers in these traditions to St. Benedict, Louisiana. Both the recently refurbished Abbey Organ, Dobson, Op. 73 – having now accompanied the Abbey liturgies for 25 years – and the recently donated 1929 Charles M. Steiff concert grand piano will be celebrated this season.
No concerts will be ticketed, and all are welcome.
To start off the series, we're very excited to haveJesse Reeks, Principal Organist of the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis, King of France, playing a recital Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m.
The following month,Seán Duggan, Professor of Piano at SUNY Fredonia, will be giving a dedicatory recital on the new piano in Benet Hall onOct. 4 at 2:30 p.m.
